Adding items to a theBox gallery
You can upload items to a theBox gallery singly or in bulk. Files uploaded to a theBox gallery are stored in theBox and videos are transcoded by theBox for streaming/playback in the web browser.
Only Video, Image and Audio files in common formats may be viewed directly within theBox. Documents such as PDF, text and PowerPoint may still be uploaded but instead of viewing directly within theBox, you will be required to download the file to view it.
- On the course home page, click the media collection's link.
- In the collection page, click the Edit icon
for the gallery you want to begin adding items to.
- On the gallery's home page, click Add an item. (Note the other choices you have here, including to create a Sample gallery.)
- On the resulting page, click Expand all, then in the General section:
- Enter a Caption for the item, which will display as you specified in step 4.
- Add any Description necessary.
- Specify whether you want this item to be displayed (Item display) and whether you want to Use as thumbnail for the gallery.
- Drag and drop a Content file, or click Choose a file and browse for a file.
- Choose the Copyright setting when prompted.
- Click the Save button.
Add tags to label/organise your item.
- In the Advanced section, complete all the relevant fields.
- Click Save changes. The item displays with its thumbnail and caption on the galleries page.
- If you are uploading a video, the video will be sent to theBox for transcoding and you will receive notifications when transcoding is complete.
