Echo360/LR+ Mobile App

Echo360 has an official app for mobile devices. The app allows instructors and students to access various functionalities of Echo on the go! The Echo360 app can be utilised before class and after class for better engagement and enhanced learning experiences. The app offers the following to students:

  • Access/view lecture recordings on the go.
  • Download recordings and view them in "Offline Mode".
  • Participate in live active learning sessions from their mobile device (Live discussion, poll, multiple choice etc.)

The app also allows instructors to *include stuff here*

Getting started

Downloading the Echo360 App

Depending on the device you own, you can download the app either from the Apple Store, Google Play or Windows Store. 
This can be accessed via the following links:

The app will require the following permissions (depending on functionality accessed): 

  • Network Access 
  • Access to photo/video library
  • Camera
  • Microphone

Supported Operating Systems

  •  iOS 9.1 or later (Compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch)
  • Andriod 4.1 or later 
  • Windows 10 mobile or later

Setting up the App

  1. Once the app is downloaded and installed on your device, click to launch it. The app will prompt you to enter your school assigned email address. Please enter your primary UNSW email address into this field and select 'Submit' once entered.

     
     
  2. Choose University of New South Wales as your institution. Click 'Submit' once chosen.


     
  3. The application redirects you to UNSW's authentication page where you can then sign in. Please ensure you use the following format as your username: [email protected] (e.g. [email protected])


     
  4. Lastly, if you are a user which has multiple roles within Echo, please select the role most appropriate for your intended use. If you are only an instructor then you will not see this page and after completing step 3 above will have signed you in straight away. 

Overview

The menu may be accessed by selecting the tribar icon located on the top left of the application. 

Here, the app can be used to access several features of Echo as well as content from current and previous semesters. 
 


 

  1. Teaching Period Selection - If you have content you own from current/previous semesters, they may be accessed here. The current & most recent teaching period will always be listed first on the list and progresses back in descending order.
     
  2. Upload Video - Used to upload captured video from your device.
     
  3. About Echo360 - Displays the application's system/version details and includes Echo's privacy policy and their Terms of Use. 
     
  4. Online Help  - Redirects you to Echo360's support centre where you may access their extensive online knowledge base. 
     
  5. Logout - Signing out of the Echo360 application. 
     
  6. Go Offline - Ability to use the Echo360 application in "offline mode" which will allow you to play content you have previously downloaded without the need of an active internet connection.  

Benefits and limitations

The Echo360 mobile app is developed by Echo and releases updates every few months. With this in mind, below includes a table outlining some of the current uses as well as the limitations of the mobile app. 

Uses:

Use Description
View courses by term Able to select current / previous terms from the main menu to access your content.
View classes for each course/section You can view classes within your courses/sections. 
View video media Play recordings.
View/interact with presentation media You can view presentation slides, show/hide them and be able to see student responses, polling etc.
Post discussion points or questions and answers Able to post discussion points/questions as well as provide answers to student's questions. 
Upload video media to your library Can upload captured video content from your device to your Echo library.
