Student's Tips - Lecture Recordings+

Student's Tips - Lecture Recordings+

UNSW Lecture Recordings+ (LR+) (powered by Echo360) is a service that supports learning and teaching in a range of teaching modes with tools that can be used by students before, during and after class.

Hear from our students on:

  • what LR+ active learning tools they are using and why,
  • how LR+ features and tools help their learning, and
  • what advice they would give other students using LR+

If you also use LR+ and have some tips to share, we'd love to hear from you! Contact us

Joanna Chan, 4th Year Computer Science student

Joanna ChanWhat LR+ features and learning tools you are using and why?
I use Echo360 to watch my lectures online, or to download my lectures so that I can watch them wherever I am, whether it be on the bus, at the library or at home. It’s especially useful as I don’t always have time to physically go to lectures, and sometimes when I do go, I forget some of the content presented. And so, being able to watch lecture recordings allows me to efficiently learn and better understand the information presented.

How do these LR+ features and tools help your learning?
Being able to watch my lectures wherever and whenever I want gives me the flexibility to go over the lecture whenever I have time. I’m also able to pause whenever I don’t understand something so I can research further online, as well as watch in double speed whenever I am already confident with certain topics.

What advice would you give other students using LR+?
The main advice I have would be to ensure that you stay up to date with watching lectures. It’s so easy to think “I’ll watch this next week”, and then for it to be suddenly week 10 with 20 hours of lectures to watch in the 2 days before your exam. Also, concentrate and actively listen when watching your lecture and take notes, whether it be annotating your lecture slides or writing your own notes. The best thing about lecture recordings is that you can watch them at your own pace and pause them whenever you need some time to write things down and to process new information.
