Symplicity - Access offers academics and administrative support staff a simple, centralised portal to:
- Acknowledge your ELS students’ reasonable adjustments
- View students’ Equitable Learning Plans (ELPs)
- Access useful resources/guides to help you support students’ academic adjustments
Note, students are also be asked to forward their ELPs to their relevant course convenors and any relevant teaching staff via email each study period.
For course convenors to receive notifications about ELPs and access to the faculty portal, Schools must enter course convenors into Term Planning.
Information for faculties
School administration staff are being asked to please ensure that the Course Convenor information is updated in Term Planning as early as possible at the start of the teaching session.
Important changes:
- The ELP format has changed. Please familiarise yourself with this when you can
- ELPs are now renewed each study period
- The ELP will be valid for whichever study period the student is enrolled in
- Only one course contact/convenor can be notified about ELPs in the portal. This might increase through improved system functionalities in the future.
Information for convenors / course contacts
As course contacts, you do not have to act until you receive an email notification from the system advising that you have ELS student(s) for the current study period. The email will instruct you how to log into the portal and review your ELS students’ adjustments.
Information about accessing the portal can be found below under “Accessing the faculty portal”. Once logged in you will see instructions on how to acknowledge an ELS student’s adjustments.
Changes to note
Please consider the following changes to the ELP format with the introduction of Simplicity - Access:
- A key change is that the ELP format will no longer have a date of validity at the top, but a validity date against each educational adjustment in the ELP. Please familiarise yourself with the new format when you can
- ELPs will be renewed each study period
- The ELP will be valid for whichever study period the student is enrolled in
- The Faculty portal will be available to view at any time, not just when you receive notification from the system.
Accessing the faculty portal
Please see instructions for accessing the management system below:
- Teaching staff will receive email notification that you have students in their courses who require educational adjustments.
