The UNSW Education Focussed Career Support model has been recognised through the CAULLT (Council of Australasian University Leaders of Learning and Teaching) as an Australasian Good Practice finalist at the Advancing Academic Development Event which was held at Bond University on 7 November 2018.
Dr Vanessa Fredericks (Project Manager, Education Focussed Career Support), presented the UNSW EF career model at the event. UNSW was one of 10 finalists with the University of Wollongong taking home the two major categories for their unique program, Jindaola, which embeds Aboriginal Knowledges and perspectives into university curriculum. UOW was named the overall winner of the Australasian Academic Development Good Practice Award, and also received the Peer’s Choice Award.
As part of the PVC(E)’s strategy to support the career development of Education Focussed Academics (EFs), the Academic Development Services team offered a mentoring scheme to all EFs interested in applying for Senior or Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in 2018. The HEA Fellowship scheme provides an opportunity for EFs to gain international recognition for their contributions to the field of learning and teaching. To date, 10 EFs have officially gained recognition at the level of Senior Fellow.
