The Learning Centre’s online Module, ‘Working with Academic Integrity 2019”, has contributed to the conversation about referencing across all Faculties since 2016. This six-lesson interactive, self-paced Moodle module explores and explains terms like integrity, misconduct, referencing, conventions, plagiarism, academic practices, citations and evidence-based learning set in the student’s learning context.

In T1 to date, over 1,500 undergraduate and master’s course work students have successfully completed the module. An engineering course has experienced a decrease of over 80% in reporting academic integrity issues since adopting the Module. The overall high completion rate (Figure 1) reflects the student engagement with the module across all courses using the module and the distribution highlights staff’s focus on preparing their students for success in their first written assessment.
