Students that are Carers

Definition

If "A carer is any individual who provides care and support to a family member or friend who lives with a disability, mental illness, alcohol or drug dependency, chronic condition, terminal illness or who is frail due to age" (Carers NSW, 2020).

It's important to recognise that students may have caring responsibilities of children, siblings, elderly parents, or other dependants which may impact on their educational experience.

At the introductory lecture for the term, highlight that students who have caring responsibilities may be able to register with ELS for educational adjustments.

Below are supports for students that are carers.
