Evaluating a Blended or Online Course

How do I evaluate a blended or online course?

If myExperience does not gather sufficiently detailed feedback from students about the online activities, you may wish to:

  • use a feedback discussion forum so that students can post their feelings during the course (anonymously, if they choose)
  • incorporate a Help forum where students can post queries during the course-this can also be a useful source of information about what they have found difficult
  • run an online survey.

Questionnaires

Below are three questionnaires, modelling the kind of feedback you might seek regarding online courses or course components. Most of the questions you would set up online as multi-point ratings (with answers from "Strongly agree" to "Strongly disagree"):

  • Online course evaluation
  • Problem-based learning course survey (relevant to evaluating project-based group work)
  • Collaborative learning course survey (relevant to evaluating discussion-based activities)
